Disinvested pension?

I have a very small pension from a company no longer trading in the UK. It's not a large amount the last correspondence I had on it was 1995.
Having found some paperwork I have discovered that the pension fund was disinvested in 2008 and the monies returned to the trustees.
I have contacted them and they simply tell me the scheme is being wound up and they will contact me nearer the time I am 55 (53 this year).
Does anybody know where I stand with this as the trustees are ignoring my requests for information.
