Ikea Tundra Flooring

Options
Anyone had experience of laying this flooring - seems cheap enough - but how easy is it to lay - and how durable for a hallway.

We bought Ikea flooring years ago for a bedroom. We have had several other kinds since (eg Floors 2 Go, B and Q) because Ikea stopped selling flooring for a few years - however, the Ikea flooring has been by far the best, hasn't chipped, worn or lifted, unlike Floors 2 Go laminate. It used to be made by Pergo, but not sure who makes it now. Avoid Floors 2 Go, in my opinion, I don't think the quality is very good. The Ikea stuff was easy to lay - certainly no harder than the others, but it's worth taking your time and getting a good finish around pipes, skirting, stairs etc.
  • Hi we have tundra flooring about 8 years in both upstair bedrooms it is fantastic, bought b&q for bathroom and been replaced 3 times my hubby says it was the best flooring to lay he has since layed flooring at both our parents.
So it gets the thumbs up from our house and believe me we have had lots of furniture movement in the bedroom with swopping babies to kids furniture.

Yeah no probs here either. It was the first flooring my husband ever lay, has laid it for other people since.

  • ADVICE ON FITTING THE FLOORING!

Learn from my mistake! I laid laminate flooring and I used the "fitting kit" I bought from Homebase along with the floor. Basically it was a plastic block to go over the end of the board so you hit it with a hammer to knock each board into place. Likewise with a angled metal profile.

Both these items caused chipping and damage to the boards and did a terrible job.
I've since laid a floor for my parents and I used a strap system I bought from Toolstation which was much better and did not damage the boards!
Cost me £3.47 and did a better job!
