Re the childminding - I thought you could only look after so many children under a certain age, including your own, so you may be restricted to morning school runs & after school, plus holidays. Can anyone else advise on this?

Given that your OH is 28 I'm not sure that car insurance will go up. Just make sure you shop around and then Quidco. Quidco should more or less pay your next contents insurance - it seems very cheap already so well done on that :D

Thanks for that I just signed up with quidco and went through one which was offering £130 cashback with our details as they'd be after he passes his test and it came back the same as we're paying now! Brilliant! Thank you!

You've mentioned being tied into a contract for mobiles, so you get so many free calls? Can you use this instead of land-line or use land-line and keep mobiles to a min?

Stes £4 a day is adding up to quite a bit over a month. How does he travel to work and is this the cheapest way (eg does he have a saver ticket), would he take a pack-up?

Well he normally gets a lift in with his mate so only goes by bus on weds and I have to take him in and pick him up if he's doing a sunday. The £4 is usually about £2 for his breakfast, £1 for his lunch plus if he gets any chocolate ot the job paper. Today he said he'd take some sandwiches for his breakfast as we had some cheese topped baps and ham that we bought yesterday, and I came down this morning to find he'd used a whole pack of ham and all the baps (4 of them!). So much for saving money! lol! Then again the ham was 35p as were the baps.. but it's the principle! lol!

What's he having for his breakfast? Is it a staff canteen he's eating in and he's filling up on breakfast and then not needing lunch? What about buying chocolate in a multi-pack from the supermarket to take in or woolworths often do 4 x chocolate bars for £1.

Lynzpower - it's the new name for "Radio Rentals."

So they rent you a £700 TV for say, £35 a month × 18 = £630, at which point you're out of contract.

Then you either hand it back and they sell it on (I guess) or you keep paying for many more months. My grandfather has never been in debt in his life but he's paid £2,700 for his £300 TV.
Debt at highest: September 2003 - £26,350
    Debt now: £14,100
Debt free day: October 2008
