Advice please on Robinson Way persuing debt not liable for!

I'd appreciate a little advice as we're not sure of the best action to take next.
Robinson way contacted my OH last Oct stating they were persuing a debt of over £9k in his name. News to us! All it said it was - Due to Robinson Way (ex- Abbey). No reference to original creditor or from when or where debt came.

So we did the usual Prove it stuff - asked for signed copies of cca etc. They did not reply within the 12+2 days but after a month said they were still waiting for a response from "the orginal seller".

Eventually they sent a large envelope in March this year with what they said was a copy of the statement and terms and conditions of the account. No cca or anything with a signature on it. This is where it gets weirder! Enclosed was a transaction summary for an account with Santander with payments received from a Halifax account dating back to 2003. There are payments made up until Aug 2004 then the next 3 pages have a monthly amount saying payment received- thank you then underneath thatit says credit reversal. This goes on every month up until 2008! Now Just to clarify, my OH has no knowledge of this debt nor has he ever had anything to do with Santander or Abbey. He did have a Hailfax account once but surely would have noticed a monthly charge going out of his account for the best part of 5 years! And if it was always bouncing back he'd have had huge charges.
The other thing they sent was a photocopy of the T&C for taking out a loan or Credit card with Cahoot - just a photocopy which anyone can get, no? No idea how the two are linked. Anyway we sent a letter saying you failed to provide sufficient evidence, further harrassment is illegal etc. We do not recognise and are not liable for the debt. You got the wrong man!
Of course, they reply with "we are satisfied that the documents are sufficient" . They also say they "will not enter into repetitive correspondence regarding this" and are continuing to persue the debt owing.
SO where do we go now? We can go back and forth with them but it's not going to stop them reporting to the Credit ref agencies and tbh it's something we want resolved properly. checked with Credit agencies and it's not even a false or fraudulent claim from 2003 - there's nothing there. My OH has quite a common name and I can only assume it's as simple as that, but they don't see it that way. Just to add, we moved into our current address last summer and prior to this he had nothing from Rob way or Santander chasing debt at other addresses. Interesting that they got hold of this new address and started the chase!
Any thoughts?
