Default on credit file -egg

Hi guys
Need some expert advice, I have an old Loan with Egg taken out in 2003, due to really bad financial student life i had a terrible credit rating i turned it all around and went from 0- to nearly excellent on my credit file! However my credit rating is squeaky clean i have an old default form EGG which they won't remove.
I have approached experian they have asked me to contact EGG and see if they would do it considering it is due to drop of my file next year, however they have been extremely unhelpful and arrogant in most conversations.
Should i go to the financial ombudsmen about this?, is it worth doing a notice of correction will this lower my score.?
Look forward to your responses
cheers guys

Hi
Did you default on the loan with egg? if so when (eg when did you first get into substantial arrears /miss payments on the loan).
When is the default on your credit file dated? 2007?
Why do you think it should be removed? What would be the complaint to the FO?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
feel so sorry for you having a nightmare with a default myself :
Can anybody PLEASE help me with his, I am going around in circles and feel like I am going mad. I opened an account with Argos in 2007. In 2009 my pay was put on hold meaning I got paid late a couple of times due to a disability I have. I got in touch with argos to advise I would pay in 5 days time the balance was about £140. They said the account was due to go into default in 2 days but as I had called they were putting a payment hold on the account for 5 days which meant that if i made the payment within the 5 days it would not be defaulted. Low and behold a day later I recieved a letter from Moorcroft advising the debt had been passed over to them and the account gone to default. I am livid because it is now 3 YEARS on and the default has not been removed. I have called them hundreds of times to be advised by several members of staff that it would be removed. I spoke to the manager who is now dealing with this informing me that they followed all procedures correctly and the default should be there and they will remove it if i can prove the telephone call from 3 years ago when they said they would put a payment hold on. I have been the financial ombudsman with this0 -

Personally I wouldn't bother as Egg are within their rights to keep the default on file for 6 years from the date it was issued (as it is a true reflection of your credit history - providing it was issued correctly - eg as Tixy says, you did have a loan with them and did default on it.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
They wont remove your default, it is a true record of your credit history so i wouldnt waste your time.
It will drop off next year anyway so you will just have to wait.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

You really need to start a thread of your own othewised nobody knows who is advising who, the answers get all mixed up.
But, I would say that defaults are not applied within 5/7 days of a late payment. It takes a lot longer than that with a lot of letters in betweenmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
