McKenzie Hall

Since we moved in we have been getting letters addressed to a lady (not the previous tenant) which we have been dutifully returning as 'not know at this address'.
The past 6 letters based on the return address on the back are from McKenzie Hall which I believe are debt collectors. The latest is marked urgent. I am getting very scared and stressed about the possibility of baillifs turning up to take our stuff for her debts.
What can I do?

Just mark the envelopes 'return to sender - not known at this address' or something similar.
Debt collectors have none of the powers of bailiffs - they cannot never turn up and take possessions of the debtor (even when they have the correct address). In the unlikely event a debt collector did doorstop visit your address you simply tell them you've never heard of that person and ask them to leave.
Creditors / debt collectors do legally have to send some letters to the last known address - so some letters will likely keep coming. If you keep returning them they will hopefully eventually try to track down the debtor elsewhere.
Even if there is an outstanding court order for this debt (unlikely with McHall involved) then bailiffs can not take any of your stuff ever.
In the very very unlikely event a bailiff turned up you would simply inform them that you have lived there x number of months / years and you have never heard of the person they are chasing.
You might choose to prove to them that you are someone else - eg by showing them your tenancy agreement (you don't have to but it might be the easiest way to get rid of them).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
