Finally, after 11 years of being in debt I will be debt free in October this year!
For those struggling, please don't give up. I was in £29k of debt and I couldn't see a way out but I didn't give up and now it's almost gone
This website has been amazing and I will continue to use it long after my DF date.

Fabulous news!
Any tips/advice for someone like me who has only been on the journey for 2 months?0 -
Loubell,
I sold a lot on eBay and put the money straight on my debt. I also used a simple spreadsheet to enter everything I paid each month and my income so it calculated what I had to spend each week once everything was accounted for. I then drew the money from my bank and divided it into 4 envelopes. Then I would open an envelope a week and it became my "pocket money". I found it very useful as you can only spend what is in the envelope for that week and it also stops you touching your bank account and possibly going overdrawn.
I also learned to say "No" quite a bit and started inviting people to my house to stop me spending money I didn't have
Boot sales are a really good idea too!
I hope this helps0 -
Thankyou Jo3y83 for such an inspirational thread. I had my LBM yesterday when I finally took my head out of the sand. I then spent most of last night awake worrying if it was possible to pay it all back without going down any formal routes. Today I'm full of enthusiasm and positivity and am working out my plan. It is encouraging to read a post from someone like yourself who has actually succeeded and thankyou for your tips as well.0
