Accepted Payment Plan - Now Earnings Arrestment

Hi All,
I had a payment plan set up with an organisation for unpaid council tax stemming from an overpayment of council tax.
I paid into the agreement via direct debit which was set up at £80 per month for 10 months.
Yesterday, I come home to a notification that my wages have been arrested of over £300 per month
Legally, can they do this if an arrangements already been accepted.

You need to contact them , it may that the DD has been input wrongly or the DD has been defaulted on for whatever reason.
As a payment arrangement is not covered in council tax legislation they could legally reject any payment arrangement and go for the Attachment of Earnings. Only the council can answer the question of why they have issued the Attachment Order.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
