I want an MP3/4 player (I don't know the difference!) but I only want to use it to download books from https://www.audible.com/co.uk. Do I HAVE to buy an Apple player to download books or will any MP3 player do?

It doesn't look like any MP3 player will do. They use .aa format. So you need a player that will play them.

You could convert to WAV format then back to MP3 or maybe direct to MP3 format but it's hassle.
