Contactless Kid's Debit Card?

My 12 yr old son really wants a contactless debit card. Is there any bank/building society that'll do them for kids? Thanks, Arthur.

You could get a contactless prepay card.

Before you allow your son to go down the route of debit cards, has he got used to the idea of how much physical cash is needed to make a purchase? IMO that's a useful route to take as a starter to ensure that he doesn't spend more than he intends.

He is 12 so the assumption would be that he does indeed know how a shop works.

This is a good point. I also think children should get used to handling cash before moving on to plastic. There are far too many children these days who think pieces of plastic mean unlimited cash ! And quite a lot of adults too.
