There is nolthing I made as a child that I miss now. And I can be pretty sentimental. So just hold onto the very best things YOU cannot bear to throw away. My dad still has a coloured sand thing I filled for him on a trip to the Isle of Wight years ago but if it were me I'd chuck it.

    Hi everyone

Last year my house burned down and I lost everything, everything, I'd ever owned. I was sad about the sentimental things I had lost, but focused on the things I had, e.g. my life, my daughter, my family - and your memories are all in your head anyway... So I say keep only the very best bits and throw away all the rest. Then you'll be clutter-free and your son can move into his new room! :)

Its difficult when the items are so sentimental.............just managed to thin out bits and pieces belonging to my Dad. Gave some pieces to my two boys, some I donated to the local history site so I can still 'see' them if I feel the need. The rest is in one shoe box and his old suitcase on top on the spare room wardrobe.
Kids were difficult too............one of them was very 'arty' from the word go, and ended up at art college leaving a host of stuff behind. Some is on display either on shelves or window sills, the rest is in a cupboard, drawer under the bed, pictures are in a scrapbook which is in a storage box along with birthday cards etc. So, everything has a place.A memory box is a lovely idea -then you can fetch things out and have a look when you feel the need.
I'm glad I've got a few of the basic bits of pottery my 'not so arty' son made....when he came up a few weeks ago the first thing he did was look around to see if I had kept them..................lol
I wish you luck.........its not an easy task but there's some good ideas here
