Hi! This is my first post on here so be gentle
I have 3 messy kids and they like to spill tomato soup and spaghetti on their clothes. I have been buying vanish oxi action powder, but it isn't getting it out. Now the clothes have been washed, dried and they are still stained .... and they are newish clothes too with loads of growing room left. So any tips on getting rid of tomatoey style stains??? Thanks

Tomato stains are amongst the worse to get out! I dont know how old your little ones are but using old teatowels as`bibs` will help to protect their clothes and then you wont worry about the stains.0

My kiddies are almost 7, 3 and a half and almost 1. The baby wears a bib but the other 2 don't.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

Hi mrsspendalot,
I hate tomato stains. I usually soak the material as quickly as possible and add some borax directly onto the stain before putting into the normal wash.
There are more suggestions on these older threads:
Help - how do I get tomato stain off a white shirt?
Help, cannot get rid of tomato sauce stain!

If disaster strikes then soak in cold water ( so the stain isnt set) and then perhaps use Ace which is a mild bleach solution for stains. HTH0

what if the stain is an old stain .... as most of them are. My hubby seems to shove stuff in the wash without looking for stains/adding stain remover and I notice once they are out of the tumbler.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

Hi sunlight is the answer, my kids (5, 2 & 1) love spagetti bol, chilli anything tomato based really! If you hang them out with the stain facing the sun (when it's here) by the time they are dried it has usually gone even on old stains. HTH0

your welcome, a friend told me about it when my daughter got tomato sauce down a blue dress. On the old stains might take a few goes. Good luck0
