It doesn't take a strong person to be a grass it's called being a coward, telling on your mate who is probably getting £30 cash in hand and learning the trade and is actually getting up on a Monday morning trying to better himself in life and once he knows the trade then goes on to pay tax.

Now people spending tax money like Job seekers allowance on drugs and alcohol now thats a different story.

It's funny how you make that strange distinction.

I get up every Monday morning too, trying to better myself and earn more. I'd love to earn £30 without having to pay tax, but as it is I know the difference between right and wrong, and I know that the rules of our society are that we pay tax. How anyone can dare criticise someone for reporting tax evasion is beyond me. As it is, I will be earning some extra money this year on top of my salary, and I am unsure about how to sort the tax out to make sure I pay the right amount, so I will be actively making enquiries to ensure I do this correctly when the time comes.

But to be honest with you, I don't have many friends so my opinion probably isn't representative of most people as I tend to see things in black and white. Come to think of it, I don't think I'm a very nice or generous person in general so ignore my opinion!

Do you know for absolute definite that your friend is being paid cash in hand? It's quite different from being paid in cash, full stop. I've been paid in cash (100% legitimately, I have all the end of year P-whatevers to prove it) for years on end. Quite old fashioned, but my employer only has a handful of staff, and this works out the best arrangement for us all.

PS - I can still get credit!

I wouldn't get involved by reporting it, but would never criticise anyone with the guts to do so. It takes a strong person to stand up for morals against a friend like that.

Only if you tell him what you have done ;)

Eh! He is allowed Over £8000 before paying tax and over £5000 before laying NI so its not just as you state, he's robbing from the rest of us taxpayers- dead simple.

By going on my posts on this forum everyone thinks I've got a bad attitude and defiantly in the top 3 moneysaving top hated members, but I do have plenty of friends and a close knit of friends and we all know are rights and wrongs.

    I believe you!
