Inconsiderate flat above neighbours have pushed me too far now!!!!

I've come to the conclusion everyone who lives in a flat has noisy neighbours... So, if you don't have a problem, IT'S YOU!

Saying that, I live in a basement flat and I've never had problems... OK I'm worried now

It's usually price... and availability.

Flats are cheaper than houses, usually. And you don't get 1-bed houses for rent in the same number as 1-bed flats (if at all).

So, if you're single, or not earning a lot, you tend to get stuck living in grotty studio flats and 1-bed flats .... among idiots, drunks, druggies and farkwits.

Oh Humphrey have you no idea about the real world?
Yes I would love to still live in my old house, but hey ho, hubby lost his job and the result is that we are renting a flat.
We are lucky and have great neighbours (give or take a few boring bug bears) but sometimes we have no choice.
OP I feel for you, just be careful how you approach your neighbour - sadly victims have less rights nowadays!!

OP, I've had so many issues with neighbours and noise- I feel your pain! Its partly due to inconsideration (parties going on all hours for example) and also with paper thin walls (I get woken up by the guy upstairs peeing every moring and hear it throughout the day/evening when I am at home).

What I will suggest though is to contact the Council. Its a domestic noise complaint so the Police wont take too kindly to it and may also just refer you back to your Council as its not their job as no one is at risk and where noise comes into play its a bit of a grey area.

I've had times in the past where its been 3am and the noise people have closed for the night, the Police wont do anything and have said its not their role. Its hard as it ends up with no sleep that night.

Where the Council have visited, they come around to listen to the noise and then write a letter to you asking you to keep a diary which after filling in you can send back. After that or sometimes during that time they can bring in devices to collect evidence of the noise heard and then they can take action. Its not an overnight thing though.

If you can speak to your neighbour and remain on good terms I would say do this because it could take much longer and cause a lot more agro for both parties otherwise.

I came across this and had to write. I live in a flat and I am sooooooooooooo fed up with the neighbours through the wall from me. Their kitchen is through the wall from my bedroom and they don't seem to work.

The idiot boyfriend sang at the top of his voice for a full 10 min after 11pm. This is just the latest in a long line of complaints. I got Envirnomental Health involved, they sent a letter out to the tenants and the landlord. For my actions I was woken up at 3am with her banging on the the wall going on about how she knew it was me. I was so tired I thought I was dreaming! They must have been drinking and banged about in the kitchen until 6am. I feel I can't win. It isn't every night but I now listen out for them and it is getting me down.

I would have went to their door if I thought they were decent people but they aren't. I'm trying to get a sleep to go to work to pay for their housing benefit. Our flat is bought and they rent. It isn't right. :mad:

I've seen so many people of also complaining about neighbours in flat, maybe we should all just buy a complex an only move considerate people in? Lol

I like this idea! :rotfl: We could also go further and add drug users and asbo litter louts to the list- and spitters!

On the posative side, not long ago I had a visit from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team, they'd been helping me as I was burgled and apparently quite a few of the neighbours also had been, one person had even seen a person coming from his home!

The police did a bit of a crack down and have really been helping as we did have a drug/smoking problem going on. I don't know the upshot of any of it or if its just waiting in lay to come back at some point but for one, the Police in my local area have been so helpful and this is despite my being doubtful their suggestions would make a dent. Definetly on my Christmas card list!
