Inquiries made on my credit report without my permission.

A few days ago my husband went looking at cars, we wasnt sure if he would get finance, stuck to a low value car at a price we could afford to pay weekly/monthly and thought he may aswell try. They rung him a few hours later saying he had initially been refused but they were transfering it to a company who deals with bad credit, DH said ok, I wasn't with him at the time and said he really should have said no as they will be doing all sorts of checks on his credit, leaving a marks every time (this is my understanding of it anyway). They rung him yesterday saying they got him finance and to call back to sort it out (this was a message).

Then today ive got an email from Equifax saying I had changes on my credit report, so I checked it and there are 6 marks on my file, from motor finance companies, I never gave permission for any checks on me, I dont drive and have no intentions of getting finance or having my name on it.

Can I get these removed and how?

If you have financial connections to your husband (joint bank acc, mortgage etc) then companies will always check both.

Even if you applied for a store card, they would run a check on him too.

The only connection we have is address, we dont have any joint accounts at all.

you dont need joint bank accounts-- your husband and wife, your finaces are linked

A financial connection of some sort must exist. Not just a personal relationship. Your credit report doesn't know who you're sleeping with, if anyone at all

Thanks for the replies.

We have never had anything financially together, no loans, bank accounts, nothing.

I contacted one of the companies and they checked and said they have absolutely no records of me, I contacted the car company and they said because we share the same address my records will be checked when checking his.

Ive got up to another 3 more on my file today.
