Athena Charge Notice

Options
Hi all

I am brand new to this so apologies if I have done this the wrong way but I wasn't sure how to do this!!!!

I have received a parking charge for overstaying in an Athena run car park by 15 minutes. They are asking for £45 within 14 days. I can see from other threads that the main consensus is to ignore this and all other subsequent letters. I'm a little nervous about doing this so just wanted some reassurance. I wondered whether I should write to them saying that although I am the registered owner of the vehicle I was not the driver at the time. Is this worth doing?

Many thanks

    Hi ali

this is what happened in my case, accused by a different company of leaving a retail site, i received numerous letters threatening court action, bailiffs and problems with my credit rating if i didnt pay up. with every letter the amount increased then decreased !!. guess what no court action its a bluff, so in return with the help of someone on here a letter was fired off to the land owner and the car park company complaining of harassment and the threat of my court action. 2 weeks after i received a letter that the charge was dropped.

hope this helps and stay firm do not cave in.

Athena are pretty tame. They will soon go away if you ignore them. Do not worry, I have had half a dozen from them, was it Lidls?
  • Thanks for the advice! Yes it was Lidls!!!

There is no need to 'eeek'!

We know what happens and so can you. The second-to-top thread on this board is there to show newbies like you, all the letters you can expect to receive. Pics of the Athena letter-chain are there for your viewing - I just checked. All you need to do is play a nice game of snap with the matching letters.

But I no longer just provide a link as it's best if you can find you way around the forum yourself. The forum thread list is only a click away from any thread you are on. If unsure, see my signature and just click to 'go back a space' to read the sticky thread which is called 'PPC letters & threats' which is a permanent info thread near the top. It also has a link to a clip of Watchdog anbout this scam, with a Solicitor's views. :D
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Athena will, like all PPCs, threaten you with every imaginable kind of legal and financial unpleasantness, in order to get you to pay up.

However, whilst they may be as morally bankrupt as all PPCs, at least they realise that enough victims just pay up for them to make a (dishonest) profit, and that wasting good money exposing their business practices to legal scrutiny is the last thing they need.

Mind you, their choice of name, the Greek goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, just warfare, mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts, and skill is, IMHO, the acme of irony and/or cynicism. :)

Blimey how many jobs did that goddess have? Was the pay so poor she had to do all that moonlighting?

Staffing cutbacks are clearly nothing new. And all they had to eat was ambrosia. I like rice pudding, but not every day. :)

If it's Athena, ask them to send you one of their pretty wall posters. Or is that a different Athena.
