Is this a short cut to a clean slate?

Hi all,
I have a very bad credit history that will take a lifetime to get better.
What if i left my old self behind by moving back with my parents, go on the electoral roll and get my name added to a utility bill there. What if I opened up a brand new (unconnected) bank account and said i had been living with my parents for the last 3 years but hadnt bothered going on the electoral roll?
I would basically be trying to leave my old life behind.
Would this give me a fresh start in the eyes of credit agences and anyone else?
Would i be a "different person" to someone who just happens to have the same name as me (I have a common name)?
Thansk for any thoughts.

Why not pay off all your old bad debts rather than trying to work out ways of running up new ones?
I give various agencies a hard time for their loyalties and close ties to creditors, rightly so, but I'm afraid that you aren't covering yourself in glory here.0 -
I doubt it would be as easy as that - unless you change your name, create a new identity and pretty much commit fraud you will probably be linked to your bad credit.
Also it's worth remembering that a bad credit history will generally take 6 years to get better (from the date of your most recent default etc.) That's not a lifetime for most people. There are also a lot of people here dealing with CCJs and bankruptcy and managing to move on with their lives.
It seems you want to take the easy way out, which doesn't bode very well for taking responsibility for your finances in the future I'm afraid. There is so much advice and support here to help you deal with your debt rather than run away from it, think about using it!Savings target: £25000/£25000

It's not that easy to do what you are thinking about. So much of our lives leave footprints in many places. Inland Revenue, DHSS, DVLA, NHS and Councils are all prime examples of this and there is a growing tendency for these organisations to share information. Then there is the more traditional ways that you can be traced through neighbours, co-workers and friends. Plus you are talking about going back to your parents. If they get benefits there could be a knock on effect of them not declaring your presence in the household for the last three years.Proud to have dealt with my debts, became debt free on 03/11/2011.
