Hi I think you add it to the overall amount (we received the extra 8% on a loan we had). I also have tmpp with halifax and have tried claiming this back but have received a letter saying the mortgage advisor advised us correctly for the tmpp. I have wrote a letter back with more details as this was a remortgage when we brought a new house and we were told that unless we took this with them then we wouldnt be able to have the mortgage and i have asked them to reconsider.
Have you been in touch with them yet?

Hi sorry to jump in but I just wondered how long it was before you received your reply from Halifax. I have had the MRC part on the TMPP policy upheld and heard back fairly soon regaarding that but as I was complaining about the whole policy they are now investigating the critical illness and life cover part. It has been 10 weeks now and I have not had any reply.

Halifax will investigate the CI and life side of the complaint more thoroughly than the MPPI part. There will be more scepticism about the validity of your complaint as nearly everyone takes out life assurance and many take out CI and for good reason. So complaints about that are bucking the trend and you will need a very strong case (assuming the refund is not small value and cheaper to refund and not argue the case).
