Post office mortgage rates for existing customers

I am an existing Post Office (Bank of Ireland) customer. My introductory rate is coming to an end and the Post Office is offering some fantastic deals for remortgages.

When I contacted them I was told these deals are only for new customers. The deals they could offer me as an existing customer were more expensive than I currently pay.

For existing customers there are no fees to remortgage, but for me paying the fee and taking the lower rate is still a better deal.

Do the post office not want to keep business?

Bank of Ireland are looking to reduce the size of their mortgage book due to the pain they have felt in the Irish market. I would suspect the offers for new customers have different underwriting criteria
