what i,m after really is a little info, suppose me and my wife died while we both still working and in pensions,i work for the nhs and have 30 years pension still on 1995 one, wife has 9 years private,both provide life insurance,now if i,m right my children would get my life insurance (2 years pay i think) would they then get the rest of the pension, plus same for my wife, kids will get life insurance (20000) but what happens to the rest of her pension, thanks all

    Check the rules for your pension schemes as there is no one rule for all. Age of children at the time of any death will affect whether they are entitled to dependants pension is the scheme provides those. And make sure that if you need to nominate someone to receive death benefits that you have done so.

    NHS scheme has dependents being under 23 (unless unable to earn an income due to handicap or permanent illness).

    From memory, some of the govt backed schemes will cease paying the pension if the widow(er) co-habits with a new partner or re-marries. I cant recall the specific rules for the NHS scheme but they will be in the scheme booklet.
