If things go well you could be back on an even keel in as little as 2-3 years, except working in a job a lot closer to home.Thinking critically since 1996....0

Do what makes you happy! If you hate the job, I am sure you are hardworking and smart, you will find another! Being miserable is going to cost you more in the long run. Just budget your money wisely so that you can survive without a job for however long it may take.0

I would love to take a £9K cut and work nearer to home, unfortunately in what I do, no such potential employer exists!0

I have recently applied for a different job, the main reason I hate where I am and on some days I almost dread going to work, it is pretty much the same wage but if it was lower and I could still afford to do it I would.Being unhappy at work just isn't worth it, especially as you spend most of your time there!!Good luck with your application.0

I'm in a similar position at the moment where I'm looking for work closer to home, as at the moment I travel 70 miles a day so as you can imagine my fuel bill is rather big....it's been easy for me to work out what the minimum pay I can drop to, as at the moment I get a shift allowance of 15% on top of my wage, but all of that goes on fuel, so therefore if I can get a job closer to home at the same basic wage I'll be better off (considering the wear and tear on my car will be a lot less). And my sanity will better not working unsociable hours.
I'd suggest add up all your monthly bills, and see how much of a wage drop you can possibly take whilst still (in theory) having some money left after paying your bills.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0
