Anyones funds going UP in value?

Just starting out so this is all new to me. Before it's pointed out ... yes i'm aware value can go down as well as up. I'm ....... just asking.
My brother's invested into 2 funds, both of which have steadily been going down for some time.
Mine has been going down for even longer & at a sharper rate these past few weeks. My gf's isn't as bad as mine, but hers is steadily decreasing also.
Is it bad across the board right now or is anyone going UP?
NOTE: No, i'm not going to go chasing what's going up at present. I'm ... just asking.

My fund (AXA Defensive) rose steadily over the past 3 years...not spectaculary though, but still a gain.
Over the past couple of months it has been losing ground slowly...not lost enough to cut into the original investment, so only losing some of whats been gained.
Question is how long will it continue to drop....if it drops like it has done recently (slightly) for the longer term then it would add up to the same as a single big drop.
In this day and age it pays to look at these type investments as really LONG term ....10 years minimum...and diversify too.0 -
Yes, We have 4 pensions incl one old one in with profits, and one company scheme that insists on cash based investments such as bonds and gilts have both done OK and at least not lost money. One of the others has lost, and the other probably too- just waiting for the statement.0

The two worst performing funds (as in showing biggest losses) in my pension scheme are unsurprisingly Europe ex UK & Natural Resources. Overall, I just slipped back into showing losses, back to start of the year once more.
Perfectly normal.
I considered it as very good news for my pension contributions since it mean cheaper units and in long run and hopefully so, better returns. If you do regular investments, this should be a blessing. Actually, I am quite cheerful about it!
If only I can feel the same about my share portfolio...
Cheers

Ah yes, i should've specified i'm talking purely short term, as in this year only, highlighting the past 1-2 months.
I know it's for the long term, i just wondered how others were faring due to my gf's, my brothers & my own funds plummeting. My gf's & my own were picked by an IFA whereas i helped select funds for my brother - who seems (as far as percentages go) to be doing better than ours - that the IFA picked.0 -
Down around 4% in the past month.
Thinking of increasing monthly contribution though. As some reasonably priced shares with attractive yields.0 -
Nope, definitely not defying gravity here. The property fund in my pension has maintained its value and Scottish Life Equity Income is faring relatively well, but I also have BlackRock Gold & General which is getting absolutely spanked and M&G Global Basics which is struggling.
Outside of my pension I also have Personal Assets which is doing okay.0 -
Same boat, my Blackrock gold is down 27.5% as is my JPM natural resources. Just got to ride the waves!
My wife has made some canny picks and her's is holding up a lot better than mine.
Edit: Even my shares have taken a dive this last week too, shed about 10%.Thinking critically since 1996....0
