    It's huge, I know for certain all prices are standardised but I don't think layouts etc are after going into a few shops for a look about, thank you zcrat.Evilm that is a good point, I hate it too, it's complete laziness!!

    Laura, just to add to what I have said before...

    If I were you I would do several dummy runs in a number of shops, maybe even the shop itself...it should give you a good idea of what you want to focus on.

    Don't be afraid to talk to staff, so for example if a deli counter..ask about their best sellers, what other services they offer..party trays etc...if there are any products on display that look past their best, comment on that, are the staff knowledgeable about their products etc.

    On fridges and freezers, you could ask about temperature checks and how they ensure stock is stored safely.

    Also, think about the layout in terms of how they use space for maximising sales...are end of aisle promotions set out properly, fully stocked with display tickets etc.

    Could also ask about staff turnover and development/training of staff.

    Service, quality and availability are key, as are ensuring they are legal re prices shown...so you won't go far wrong focusing on them.

    I could go on and on lol so I'd better stop x
