Desperate to clear Santander debt

Hi everyone!
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated - i am just in the process of applying for a mortgage and have run into difficulties as i have an outstanding CCJ from a couple of years ago which i got into through difficulties with Topshop/Santander cards. Anyway, have been told that i need to pay this off ASAP which i am fully prepared to do, but on getting in touch with Howard Cohen/The Lewis Group (who the debt had been passed on to) i was told the debt has now been passed back to Santander. However when i finally managed to speak to someone at Santander after trying about 10 different telephone numbers i was told that my old credit account has been shut down, and that they wouldn't have done that if there was any debt outstanding. This is not true, the debt still needs paying off! So... am really desperate to find out who i can contact as i need to pay this debt, and kicking myself repeatedly for letting it get this far! Can anyone help??
Thanks very much for reading!

get them to confirm in writing that the debt has been repaid in full?
and to amend the entry with the cra`s0 -
You need to get this in writing or via email. Send them a complaint by email as its harder to ignore. Then you have a record of everything said unlike on the phone which they can deny.:beer:0
