Building Society messed up mortgage payments
Sgarlet
My building society has taken some of my mortgage payments from another persons account despite me advising them on at least three occasions of my correct bank account details.
Does anyone know if they will try and get them back off me?

:rotfl: of course they will. They aren't charities.
Definitely complain, you might get some compensation if they've been incompetent. The J is a Financial Advisor-This site doesn't check anyone's status and as such any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as financial advice. Make sure you have the money to hand. Write a letter to them advising them of the problem and offering to pay by cheque. Keep a copy.
Things which can go wrong are that they could wake up and empty your bank account and leave you facing bank charges - or they could trash your credit record on the false basis that you were in arrears. Sending a letter and keeping a copy will be useful ammunition if you need to undo the damage. A phone call will not do.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I'm sure you have been sensible and put the money to one side. So you will be able to pay them immediately.
Some things to consider:
1) make sure they backdate your payments to when they were due. You don't want to have paid additional mortgage interest on the missed payments.
2) make sure your credit file is not reporting arrears.
3) make sure you are not charged any missed payment fees.
4) make sure you ask for an amount of compensation. £100 seems reasonable to me for a repeated error.0
