Debt from 9 or 10 years ago, is this valid?

Recently recieved a letter from a company by the name of Buchanan Clark & Wells acting for a company called Aktiv Kapital UK Limited.

They claim I owe GE Capital Bank Ltd - DIXONS BUDGET the sum of £1,421.00p.

It's true that around 10 or 12 years ago I bought a fax machine from Dixons in Southampton, the cost of the fax machine was (as far as I can remember) around £120.00p. This was paid for monthly by direct debit, wasn't a lot but I believe I paid it off.

Bearing in mind this was 10 years plus ago, I dont have any paperwork to prove this was paid (though I'm certain it was) and this is the first I've heard about the claim.

Can a debt be pursued after all this time? Any help appreciated, thanks folks.

No, of course it cant, they are trying it on.

Debts are statute barred after 6 years as long as you have not acknlowedged the debt.

It doesnt mean you dont owe it, it means they cant enforce it.

They are stale debt sharks
STAtute barred Litigant Expired
STALE Debt
This means the Debt is barred by Law and any chance of Litigation over the debt will fail or is expired.

Now, they will know this 100% they dont need you to convince them, nor shall you, all you will do by corresponding with them is confirm they have the right person to harass.
Which is what they will do and the best way to bring it to a short conclusion is to let them put up or shut by ignoring them, if they put up with a CCJ claim you come out fighting like a Pit bull with PMT and defend on basis of Statute barred and counter claim for harassment.

Thanks chaps/chapesses, I was pretty certain it wasn't enforceable. I shall prepare the boiling oil in the event they decide to visit, not sure what they can actually do by a visit but time will tell, thanks again.

They wont visit. There are many more fish to frighten, some who didnt even owe the debt in the first place. They'll hassle you for a bit, but just ignore letters, dont answer calls and if by some miracle all Jews on earth obey the sabbath one week and the debt collector actually pitches up at your door, you can take great pleasure in slamming it shut again.
