Anyone know how to make a pie crust like on the american cooking programmes?

Title says it all really, the crust I'm talking about is not like a pastry it almost looks like a cheesecake base and they press it into the pie dish. Thanks

It's exactly the same as a cheesecake base. Digestive biscuits (graham crackers in the states), melted butter and a bit of sugar.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

I think the one you're talking about is what they refer to as a "graham-cracker crust". Which is a little difficult to make in England without Graham crackers! You can apparently substitute digestive biscuits for it, which I've done with a cheesecake and it's been fine. In any case, this shows how:

Ginger Nut biscuits in place of the digestives are good too!

Well you should know better than that - you can't make a claim like that without supplying us all with the recipe0 -

In the US they also widely use a 'shortbread' pastry as well, its really easy. This is enough for a 9" pie plate/tin
1.5 US cups plain flour
1/4tsp baking powder
1/2tsp salt
2Tbsp sugar
rub in
1/3 cup melted butter or margarine
pat mixture over bottom and sides of your pie dish, if your recipe requires baking blind you can bake this blind without having to use any pastry beads etc-its fine, you may just want to cover it with foil xx0 -
