I agree with this view. I know of an individual with some land that is ripe for development (multi property) but understanding what is and isn't possible is a nightmare with out enlisting professional consultancy advice and networks.

I also agree with Brit(???) that IME a large proportion developers profits do come from careful management of their land banks over years.

this seems to suggest that the owner needs some professional advise; presumbaly the profit from development would be massive so they could easily afford it.

It's not libel. No one has been identified.

land with planning permission is reasonably easy to value

    "The big builders" were stated.

    There aren't many of them.

Hence they can be easily identified.

    Hence it's libel.

Do the house builders sue the financial correspondents every time this issue comes up every year with the builders annual report.

Can you identify which financial correspondents have accused the builders of making false asset valuations in their annual reports?

to be fair H cartel behaviour carries criminal penalties but that doesn't stop you, admittedly in a rather imprecise & incoherent fashion, of accusing mortgage [and there literally is only a handful of them left] lenders of the same. but as it happens i don't think there's much for you to worry about on this score.
    FACT.

    Any help.
A recent report highlights that the UK’s leading house builders have sufficient land bank to build almost 620,000 homes, of which less than 50% has been granted any kind of planning permission. Private developers are in essence restricting supply by the control they exert through these land holdings, which is partly driven by the proposed changes to the planning rules.

So just forcing the stuff that already has planning could make a fair dent in the housing shortage.

    very interesting

although they give the land bank for the private sector they don't actually give the equivalent figures for the public sector

I've often advocated a land value tax that would partly help as this would be paid on the land potential so hoarding land would be a real cash drain on the owners.

He can't it's the usual behaviour where Brit, Devon, Thruglmeir and the rest of the HPC Ghetto make statements but can never back them up.

Don't expect them to back his fantasy statement up either.
