Cleaning Electric solid plate hob?

As our flat is all electric and the cooker was provided we have one of those awful solid plate hobs! I've found it impossible to clean and was wondering if anyone has any top tips?! I even tried over pride and that didn't make much of a difference!! It has that horrible rusting look going on at the moment.

I heard about viniger or lemon juice? was wondering if anyone has any experience? :)

I use hob-brite on mine. Must admit that I hate the cooker and the hob because it is electric. I use Ovenmate on the oven and hob-brite on the hob itself. Seems to work with a bit of elbow grease.

On our hob I always use wet & dry sandpaper of the finest available. Works for me.

    Good luck
