You may have to put this course on hold because there is zero chance of you getting any more money from them
Well if we're going down this avenue, what if you were legally barred from asking the person with their head 'screwed' on of whom we speak to pay back the original debt and it was also your job to allocate him money based on his need?0 -
I'd suggest you reconsider your options, possibly defer until you can save up enough finance to self fund.0

If you say no youre lying. Lying to get finance is a terrible idea 100% of the time. Say yes and you won't get the money.
You will have to explore other avenues for the money0 -
Tricky one give me more money even though i screwed you over years ago? shame now wife and kids and you want to do the right thing, hindsight im sure you would reckon you would have been better to pay it back in your youth but to lie on the papers now would be detrimental so yes and yes and if you dont get a loan tough get the degree without it and you have a clear conciounse (i know spelt wrong before grammar police on my case) this time especially with kids - setting an example etc, good luck with the degree - whats thats old proverb you cant put an old head on young shoulders

The reference from the regulations I have shows clearly why you are ineligible; you've broken that obligation to repay previously.
Lying won't work either, as you wouldn't be able to avoid the systems in place.0 -
I decided to Man-Up and did the obvious thing, which was to speak to Student Finance directly over the phone. They put me in touch with the SLC Collections team, who told me that it would be necessary to pay off the outstanding debt in full before they would process my application for funding. As it stands now, the debt is still statute barred, so I'm going to go ahead and do my degree without funding from Student Finance as the amount I'd get in grants is roughly the same as the amount I'd have to come up with between now and September in order to pay off my debt and have my application processed!
Thank you all for your support (well, most of you) and advice.
Many thanks,

Thanks to your last comment, I won't hesitate to laugh when you reach the next hurdle. NHS funding with a degree already can be a minefield.0
