OK ... I know they're Union "Flags" and not Jacks ! But most of us call it the Union Jack ... don't we ??!!
Anyway. My rant. Poundland has a range of flags, bunting and wotnot for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. And their Union Jacks are all upside down ... the big flags, the little hand held flags, the flags on the mugs ... all upside down. And their staff ? Couldn't care less.
At the flame handover in Athens today, guess what ? The Union Jack was upside down too, although I guess the poor Greeks have bigger things to worry about right now so they can be forgiven.
Why can't they get the Union Jack right ?

It probably went the same way as the putting a stamp with the queen's head straight (& right way up) went.
It's a Jack onboard ship, BTW, but I think the OP knows that.0 -
You're OK. It is OK to use the term Union Jack, and has been since 1908.

Totally p*ss's me off when i see the flag flying wrongy, ive even seen it a few times flying outside the British Legion and on troops coffins on the evening news. If the military cant get it right then what chance of educating the rest of the population, if the stars and stripes was hung upside down there would be riots.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
