Newbie Wanting help

Hey Everybody

I'm new to this site and was wondering if anybody had any hints and tips and getting out of debt and cutting my monthly spending as I am now on maternity leave with a baby on the way any day now so my monthly wages have pretty much halved.

My major concern at the minute is my overdraft I have an over draft of £500 which I am stuck in so I was wondering the best way to get out of that I know it may not sound like a lot but now my wages have gone down it is worrying me

    Hi Sarah and welcome

First step is probably for you to work out what you have coming in each month, what your priority outgoings are, and what else you have left after that.

Preparing a statement of affairs will help you to do this, and if you decided to post the results on here people might be able to suggest areas you could look at to see if you can make savings. This is the calculator we use http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

Have you checked things like the cost of your mobiles/broadband/insurances to see you are on the cheapest deals you can find? have you looked to see if your utility bills are with the cheapest supplier/tariff?
Do you have anythings you could sell to try to put towards the overdraft debt (a car boot or ebay perhaps?)
A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give
or "It costs nowt to be nice"
