Best place for balloons?

Hi all,

I've been drafted in by a friend to help sort out some final details for her wedding which is in a couple of weeks' time. She's asked me to look into getting some nice balloons to decorate the reception (deep red and silver). Has anyone found good places to buy balloons? Also, any ideas for what to use for the weights to keep them where you want them?

Thank you!

Poundland actually have bags of silver baloons!
Not sure about the red though i'm afraid.

I got my balloons off ebay. Roughly £5 (including postage) for 100 12in balloons. I will say though I have had a nightmare finding the right share of burgundy red. So many 'burgundy' balloons are actually purple burgundy rather than red burgundy. In the end I've had to just accept they won't be the exact shade of red as the stationery, my bouquet, or MrD's tie.

I know this seems my answer to everything (found loads of bargains myself) but have you looked at ebay?

Ebay is almost always my first stop shop lol. I have had a look but it's so hard to tell what the colours actually are when you just see a picture online :o

I'll definitely have a look for the silver ones in the local poundland!

Ahh I see your point! Everything I've ordered for my wedding I've had a sample first. Not just to see the item itself, but also to check out their service. You can never be too careful!

Have you tried Card Factory? They always have masses of balloons near the till area. I wouldn't know the price, but their cards are dirt cheap!

I think I'll pop around poundland and the card shops etc near work today and see what they have and prices etc.

The wedding is abroad as well so I need to see if I can find somewhere there that will supply a helium canister (I'm driving to take the dresses and stuff but expect I won't be allowed to take a helium canister on the ferry or channel tunnel?).

All the Birthday stores are closing over the next week or so so you may get some bargins in there. I know I'm going to go and have a look

I bought lots of large metallic balloons at The Factory Shop some time ago, filled with helium cost just £1 each and I ordered the colours I wanted in advance.

I didn't realise the scarcity of helium at the time; if I had I would have gone with standard balloons and a bit of graft.
