Advice on duplicated Default Dates

Hi all,

I am after some advice on how to best approach two duplicated accounts on my Credit File at Noddle. There are two records that are records of the same defaulted Barclaycard account from 2006. Here are the important parts of both records as they appear on the credit file:

Lender: Barlcaycard | Account Type: Credit Card
Account Start Date: 09/11/2004 | Date of Default: 01/07/2006
Default Balance: £789

Lender: Cabot Financial Uk Limited | Account Type: Credit Card
Account Start Date: 09/11/2004 | Date of Default: 01/05/2007
Default Balance: £789

My question is this: As these two records are quite obviously the same account, I naturally would like Cabot to remove the duplicate as otherwise there will be a default on my report up to 01/05/2013 when this default should only be present on there until 01/07/2012 as per Barclaycard's update (i.e. 6 weeks or so from now!).

What hope do I have of Cabot agreeing to remove their duplicate entry given the data above? Has anyone gone through this process and can offer any advice as to the best way to approach this?

(This all assumes I am correct in that the two companies should not be registering two defaults from one unique account?)

Thanks in advance ladies & gents to anyone who can help!

:)

Chris

You are correct - there should only be one default showing and whoever's name it is in, it must show the original default date on 01/07/06.

Write to cabot, state that you note they have registered a duplicated default on your credit file with noddle (maybe check experian & equifax if you haven't already) when a correct default entry already exists in Barclays name. State that you require them to remove their entry from your credit file immediately and to write to you to confirm they have done so.

Is the debt settled or still outstanding?

I'd suggest that you ensure you keep a copy of your file showing the barclays default on there with the correct date (so that should cabot incorrectly put their default back on later in July 12, you will have proof that it should not be on there and hopefully find it easier to remove.)
