Credit search - no result

Hello,

Just ran my OH's experian credit search and it came back saying that they could not process it as they do not have sufficient info on him. They have asked him to send in proof of address and identity. I guess this is because he has not been on electoral roll at present or past address. What do we do now? We are going to see mortgage advisor on weds. Should we send off documents? Will they then be able to do a search for him? How does it work, as if we can prove where he is living now, that still doesn't give them proof that he has been there 2 and half years, or proof of his previous address. Will he get a result if we send in this info? should we do this for all three credit agencies?

it shouldnt be a great problem they will just ask for other documents such as bank stats to show him at the address. It might affect credit score a little but unless you are going for max possible its usually possible to work round. I often blame lack of electoral roll info on the credit agencies themselves. They are so inaccurate anyway and dont often get much agro from lenders.

So should we send off documentation to experian now, or wait til we've seen the advisor and we've decided on a product and then see what happens and send off documentation required by which ever creidt agency they use then? If we should get this sorted now, then should we send the info to the other two credit agencies too?

    Hey

experian dont show accounts, or money owed. Only your credit score. Try Equifax, as they most of the time have a lot more information. I use http://checkmyfile.co.uk they have a good online checking system.

    Best of luck

This can be a problem, if you have not had loans or credit cards and are not yet showing on the electroal role at the current address then the credit agencies might find nothing on you and this can cause a big problem getting a mortgage.

The electoral role is updated about November each year. Anyone thinking about a mortgage should make sure they are registered and if you have no credit card get one and use it for 6 months (daft I know).

In OPs case id this is a problem you may have to look to the OHs bank, if they do reasonable mortgages?

I think experian is probably the best one to get as seems to be used more by mainstream lenders but I would get both as there may be differences between the two that you can exploit

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Were you trying to access it online? Mine does that too. I think it's because I haven't lived here for very long and have changed my name within the last two years.

Your mortage advisor/lender will be able to run a credit search on you as normal.

If you want a copy, you can pay the statutory £2 fee and they will send it to your home address. http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/index.html and click "Order £2 report"

As for not being on the electoral roll, you should get yourselves on their as ap, but we got our proof of address from the council tax department.
  • I tried to get a loan recently, but the only offer I got was for 10.4%. I used www.checkmyfile.com which goes to Experian, Equifax and Callcredit. According to Experian, I dont exist. The other two companies found me on the Electoral Roll and found my credit history including my current loan and my old credit card. I appealed to one of the banks I applied to, telling them that Experian were at fault, only to be told that they wouldnt review my application.

Can anyone tell me how to get my details onto Experian's records.

    Hey

Experian "online" does not show your credit accounts or money owed. I have several set up online for family members and they do not release such info. Equifax does.

Try it for yourself at http://checkmyfile.co.uk (£6.95)+

    Thanks
