coke going flat is down to how you seal the bottle up. missus gets it pours it out squash bottle tries tighting up and slings in fridge comes out flat as cap barely tight, i get it bottle on counter keeping shape tighten it hard as i can well fairly tight have come back a week later to it still full fizz gush when you open it. try it you may just find is better!0

Sorry Basil but I find it hard trying to understand what you have written. Are you saying that you are making sure the cap is tightened as much as possible to get the fizz to last longer?0

I think Basil's saying:
wife: squashes bottle out of shape (to reduce volume, & thus less CO2 loss into airspace), but doesn't really tighten cap = flat coke
Basil: doesn't bother squashing bottle, but really tightens cap = fizzy coke"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -

yes exactly that and by doing it that way i have never had flat coke even after going away for 3-4 weeks ish whilst have building work done!0 -
Logically it should work but whener I have tried tightening it makes little difference. I guess I'll have to hit the weights and build up a bit of strength so that I can tightenen properly.0

The best way to keep coke fizzy is to keep it out of the fridge, and keep the bottle shape in its origional shape.
If you leave the bottle squashed, then the CO2 from the drink will seep out of the drink and fill the bottle up.
For some reason (don't know why) keeping coke in the fridge makes it go flat quicker. I also find that pouring warm coke over ice makes it go flat in the glass almost instantly.
The best way to enjoy an ice cold coke is with either an unpoened can/bottle from the fridge over ice. But this gets expensive, opening fresh every time, so keep the coke in a cool, dark place - like a cellar or garage.
I also find that some coke just tastes funny from the off, like the mix is not quite right, but nought you can do about it.0 -
I gave up drinking Diet Pepsi/Diet Cherry Coke/Diet Coke about a month ago after drinking 2- 6 cans a day since 1985.
Had horrible headaches for over a week but now have more energy not less and more money0
