Many brokers will urge you to get fake payslips, and perhaps even a different employer name (without nthe word 'agency' or 'recruitment' in the title).
Many of these brokers are being caught - FSA are calling all thier clients and establishing patterns of behaviour - they offer the client annoynimity etc if they co - operate).0 -
The deal is ok in the scheme of things.
Please heed this warning and be very, very careful when dealing with banks directly.
Many banks staff are targeted by leads and applications only. Therefore when you call up and ask if the one product (set of criteria) they have for mortgages suitable for your situation, what issues have they got saying of course you will be fine come on and see our adviser (them)
C&G have not got a great appetite to lend at the moment and therefore given this would be referred for manual decisioning, I would not like to call it. The person you spoke to takes no accountability...
Assuming you went to this specific broker for a reason, let him/her do their job and try not to get too involved in the sourcing as you are not privy to all of the underwriting implications.
Find (or hopefully) find a good broker and let them do the job they do all day everyday and are qualified, regulated and insured to do.
Would have thought you may have learnt this lesson with your Nationwide experience...
Fingers crossed for you...
Your right Dave, and just to confirm to the OP, LTSB/C&G will consider temp/agency workers with continuous working and "no" breaks. They will get a full refernce from the agency to confirm this. < 18 months instant decline unless they are a professional ie teacher, accountant doctor etc.0 -

Fingers crossed for you...Yep we have a broker looking at the situation for us too, he hasnt come back with any suggestions yet but was mentioning all sorts of weird and wonderful ways of trying to sort things so might or might not prove to be useful!
Have phoned round a few today, the most promising of which seemed to be Lloyds TSB, they said that as she was working 18 months with the same agency then it should not be a problem for them, so they are looking into it now for us. Not sure the rate is the best at 4.99% for a 3 year fix, but don't think there will be too many options open to us.

See my reply to Dave, you will be alright at C&G if you meet the criteria above.
All the best.0 -
Cheers Simon, whilst within C&G criteria they are looking for reasons not to lend although that is a better rate.
Santander and Halifax have similar approaches, although the latter tend to be more flexible.
Original opinion stands that going direct may not be best solution on this case..
Oh - and thanks Conrad, no mention of fake employment and income on this thread either so good work!I am a Mortgage Broker

Thanks for all of your help.
Have been back to Nationwide and found the reason they declined it.
It wasn't the fact that she was working for an agency, but that the employer didn't write full salary details on the employer reference form, even though they did send a full P11 for the last 18 months with it.
So now Nationwide have said that if the employer writes a letter to them giving this figure then all could move on again.
All of this trouble because of something small like this!
Appreciate all the help, and any more that i may need!
Will keep you updated.
