  • Guys,
I find myself in a sticky position I need to buy a piece of radio equipment, manufactured at least 20 years ago.
All the equipment available to replace my broken piece of kit is in the USA (the original place of manufacture) all are obviouly second ahnd and well used.
If I bid on Ebay and purchase one, will I be subject to VAT on its arrival here in the UK.
I need tom know as I need to take into account the cost of the 20% plus any import duty prior to placing my bid.
    Your assistance would be appreciated

    Neil

Goods that are donated to and then resold by a charity are zero rated if they are passed on without substantial work being done to them.

So if by an amazing chance you happened to find a set of brake pads to fit your car amongst the household bric a brac in our shop, then yes, they would be VAT-free.
