Oh for goodness sake, give it a rest. I am not even bothering to waste my breath arguing with you.

To be honest, the attitude you display on here would send the majority of employers running for the hills.

It's never your fault, is it?

The facts that mildred states are true. if you were dismissed they can say you were dismissed in a reference. That is why I think explaining why before referencing is best.

I have no view on if you think the world owes you, I know you try hard applying for things and really wish one would work out for you.

What the hell are you on about??? You are talking a load of rubbish. You obviously don't understand the full facts of my situation.

If it was YOU who was having your character ruined so unfairly and disgustingly like this, then you would be feeling exactly the same as I do. NO employer has the right to defame your character like this, especially if you have done nothing wrong.

Thank God there are people on here who DO appreciate my situation and can sympathise.

You said you couldn't keep up. It wasn't an admin job like you wanted. The employer ended your employment (aka a dismissal). All fact and you can't take action for them saying any of that in a reference, and not "he was marvellous" when it was not a good match.

You come across as arrogant, angry and with a huge side order of entitlement on the side. It's hard to believe that you'd handle a poorly matched job with grace and a calm attitude. Employers don't like that, generally.

It happened to me, and I lost a job I had been offered at a time when I really, really needed a job. That employer simply disappeared off my CV. There is little you can do - get over it.

Why is it always the poor unemployed who get condemned here, instead of some of the horrid employers and agencies who treat the jobless so shabbily?

(Sigh) Sadly, one of the great, great mysteries of life.

    That's right. It's everyone else's fault.

What reason did you put for "leaving the job" - were you honest and said dismissed as I wasn't suitable for the role?

I've added info in my first post from the CIPD, have a look at that. You can still make a SAR, but may not get what you need.

However, if they have said 'dismissed' - and you were, despite any negating circumstances - then that is a factual reference and there's nothing unlawful in it, I'm afraid.

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

But how on earth am I EVER EVER going to get a job, if this "dismissal" record is going to crop up each time I apply for a role?

The suggestion to get a friend to make some reference requests for you is quite a good one. Once you see what they are saying you can work out what you should be saying in advance of references being requested. ;)
