Hi All,
I am due to start a job with Santander in approx 2 months and am trying to find out some info about their employee mortgages. So far all I have found out is that mortgages is part of their benefit portfolio.
Does anyone have any info about any preferential rates/discounts that the offer?
FYI I am a prospective first time buyer looking to buy a property for ITRO 130K. I have a 10% deposit.
Any help or further info would be much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Scott:)

Hi smlcfc,
Did you join Santander in the end? I am in a similar position and trying to figure out what level of discount is provided to employees on mortgages.
Thanks

They are unlikely to offer any benefit on mortgages. The tax charge for a benefit in kind means any mortgage with a rate under 4% will make you worse off. You may be entitled to some loyalty offers that are normally only for existing customers at best.
Barclays advises similar on their staff site

I would expect mortgage rates to be base rate linked.
You might have to work there for 12 months before you get a staff mortgage.0
