I have decided to do my own make up for my wedding which I am pretty confident about, however having looked at other peoples wedding pictures I think it would be nice to have false eyelashes applied by somebody before. But I know nothing about them and I'm not sure what I am looking for at a beauty salon. Can someone help me there looks like there are a few different ones and I'm very confused

Hi,
I tried them last year when we went on holiday as I wanted to have them for our wedding. I had them done properly at my local beauty salon where I go. They were the ones that are guled on individually & last up to two weeks. However they drove me round the twist:( My eyes were running & were sore even after a few days & I found it really hard to up eye makeup on with them, I ended up pulling them off after a few days. They just obviously didn't suit me, but I know loads of people love them so get a good salon & try them out before you have it done for the wedding just in case.Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -
Id avoid ones being done at salons,i know so many people who have had them done and they have lost alot of there own lashes when the others have come off.i wear false lashes and find the eylure ones the best, especially the girls aloud ones, kimberleys ones i like the best, look very natural.if you practice with them they are easy to put on and u can wear the same ones over and over if u clean them after wear,i found some other lashes, the glue was rubbish and eye shadow wouldnt cover where the glue had dried. all u need is the lashes and a cotton bud0

I agree with Hollie84 - eyelure are the best strip lashes I have found and I wear fake lashes a lot. However, if you haven't applied them before then you may find you need a lot of practice to be able to get them right on the day. I have a few friends that just can never get them on properly and I usually have to do it for them.
I have also had 'lash perfect eyelashes' (individual eyelashes) done at the salon and I had no problems with them at all. There are two other girls in my work that get them regularly too with no problems. I didn't have runny eyes or soreness or anything - it must depend on how sensitive your eyes are and how good the person is who is applying them. I had the ones that can last up to 12 weeks if you get them filled in. They were great! - but you need to be careful with what eye make-up you apply. You shouldn't apply mascara with them (you don't need mascara though!) or any oily or creamy eye make-up or they won't last long at all. Also you really need to get them removed professionally or you will end up pulling some of your own eyelashes out. I've heard baby oil can help to loosen the glue if you want to get rid of them yourself, but I haven't tried that myself...
I have also had the 'party lashes' done which instead of individual ones were several little sections that had a few lashes each - they are designed to last 1 week max. I think, but mine only lasted a few days. These would maybe be a good option if you have time to go and get them done the day before.
Who new there were so many options eh! :rotfl:
Good luck!0 -
I've had mine done professionally twice now and love them. I'm not sure what kind/make they are but it's the individual ones. I wasn't sure how I'd get on with them at first as I tend to get quite dry/irritable eyes, and rub my eyes quite a bit. The first time I did had a few that decided to twist/stick out at funny angles, normally when I got up in the morning, but found it easy enough to get them back into place. Someone has since told me that if you get a clean mascara brush you can brush them back into shape (can't wear mascara with them on, though I found I had no reason to want to anyway).
I know my friend had the problem of her own eye lashes coming out, but can't say it's been a problem for me....so can't wait til next week to get mine done again!0 -
Have you looked at model co lash extension mascara, basically you put on mascara, then you add fibre extensions (very easy to apply and just like putting on mascara) and then comb through more mascara, for a really dramatic effect use your curlers too
I love it! Also no worries that they are going to fall out. I have very short eyelashes and they make mine look full and long, but not fake looking IYKWIM. I think other make up companies are starting to do a similar brand, so maybe pop along to Debenhams etc and see if they have a sample you can practice with.

Thanks for this Hollie I hadn't heard of people loosing their own eyelashes with the salon ones and now I have I'm worried  I have never tried putting false ones on myself I think I'll pick some up at the weekend and have a go. Slightly worried about one flapping off half way through the ceremony :rotfl:Do you need mascara with them?0 -
