Robinson Way letter

I received a letter saying from Robinson Way stating 'for the purpose of validation can you please confirm whether you used to live at...and then it gave a recent old address.
I've not had any debts since March 2011 since I fully paid off my credit cards (Barclaycard, Vanquis and Capital One) and payday loans.
I'm always, thankfully, now full in credit and don't have any overdraft or any other types of debt.
I checked and updated my Experian account a few months ago and it stated that my credit rating was 'excellent' with no outstanding debts.
The only thing I can think of is that I used to be part of a gym and after the 12 month contract expired I gave a months notice and cancelled the contract. They said that they needed a month on top of the contract which initially I fought for but then backed down and agreed to pay. Because I didn't want to go into their branch I emailed them to give me their account details, the account details they provided to me were incorrect, so the payment bounced back to me. I emailed to say it had been returned and requested corrected bank details and they never responded. This was in June 2011. I have all the email correspondence including proof that they didn't respond to my last requests.
Where do I stand on this? Should I just wait to see if Robinson Way contact me for more information? If it IS the gym can I go around Robinson Way and try and deal direct with the gym instead?
I feel a bit sick in the stomach because I've spent so long getting my finances in order and I'm happy to do the 'right' thing and pay up. Do Robinson Way tend to add large extra fees? If they don't I'll probably just call them to deal with it, but I keep seeing things that say that you shouldn't call to validate.

I think you should be looking at this as 2 separate issues.
If Robinson Way wrote to me asking for validation in the manner they have written to you, if I replied at all, I would only write to tell them that I had no responsibility to validate anything with them and that I had no relationship with them which would require me to respond to them.
As for the gym, hold onto copies of all of the correspondence which shows that you agreed to pay another month, that the payment was bounced and that you requested correct bank details. With these, if Robinson Way are chasing up, then they have no basis whatsoever to add fees.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thanks for your help. I guess I'll wait for them to send me more information.Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Hi
Further to this, they sent a letter today saying I to a Barclays account I don't recognize. I don't know how I got my information but they gave rather forceful language saying all correspondence must go through them?
Which template letter should I send? The 'prove it' one or 'I don't recognize the debt one?
Sorry for the questions. Just want to get them off my back!Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300
