Settlement or clear and close

Hi there,
I have 8 accounts in which have been passed from companies to dcas. These date back to 2002, I have been paying the dcas a min amount each month for years and am now lucky enough to be able to pay them off in full.
They are all offering me a discount to pay them off but I am not sure how and where that leaves me.
I really just want all these gone.. Do I pay the settlement or pay off in full?
Also one company won't put anything in writing to me? I don't want to give them my card details without getting it in writing that the account is now cleared and closed.
Any advice would be great.
Many thanks

If i was you i'd write letters to each of them asking if they are willing to reduce the full balance if you make a full and final settlement. I know one company have wrote to me saying i owe 268 on a capital one and if i paid 138 they accept it as full and final. That's a 50% reduction. Its worth a go. I wouldn't deal with anything just via phone and certainly wouldn't give card details if they are refusing to confirm anything in writing! I'd write a letter of complaint and send it recorded delivery x0
