German minister wants us to put into the "clean up fund"

Cameron says no.
The government has played down claims Britain may have to contribute to a fund to help Greece if it falls out of the euro.

German media say the country's finance minister wants the coalition to be part of a "clean-up fund".

But the prime minister's spokesman said it was up to "eurozone countries to support the eurozone".
And too right we should say no too. How many times do people have to keep telling these people throwing debt at a debt problem won't work. Now they are discussing the clean up fund and want us to cough up.

However, you can bet your bottom dollar we WILL cough up, somehow, if not directly.

Quite infuriating really.

    This is just the start.

    Next there will be a European Peacemaking Force sent to Greece to 'pacify' them and bring 'stability'. They will wear white uniforms and be called... I don't know... let's say Stormtroopers.

    Then a hero will rise, he will be called Darth Blair and he will seek to unite all Europe in a yummy multicultural mess. The people will resist, notable resistees will include Mace Farage, Master Duncan Smith, Norman Tebbitwalker but the Stormtroopers will put these terrorists in their place and a new building of magnificence will be built in Brussels and it will be called the Death Star.

    Grab the popcorn, it's going to be a cracker.

    We need to avoid this idea like the plague, as when Greece goes we are likely to see a contagion infecting the rest of the PIIGS over the next few years.

    The cost of treating/cleaning up the Euro infection will rapidly escalate, so must be left to the other Eurozone countries who have profited from Euro membership.

    We will still be severely effected by the economic situation in Europe, so must concentrate on establishing trading links with the developing economies, who will be wary of trading with and investing in our Eurozone neighbours.

    Which is mostly Germany.
    The effect of being in the Euro kept the German exchange rate lower than it would have been had they still been on the DMark. German exports and its manufacturing gained considerably.
    So Germany could loan out money to Greece (and the rest) to enable them to buy German cars on the money they loaned them.........

    The best solution is not that Greece et al leaves the euro - but Germany does.

    Interesting that we have had recurrent "uncertainty" for the last 12 months when it was clear at the outset some form of full default or removal from the Euro was the only way out. Why have they (Germany?) kept kicking it down the road, they have done themselves no favours.

    Because the Germans can't bring themselves to accept what they're doing. They don't want to break up Europe, especially not if they get the blame. And if they do, how will they achieve European domination?
