cca request

Hi all. hopefully somebody can help me out here. I received a letter from morgan solicitors saying that i owed money on an opus credit card, never having such card i asked on the 9th April for a copy of the cca, they responded on the 12th April saying that they have requested the original documents from the vendor & it could take up to 6 weeks for them to receive them & to phone them on 24th May if i've heard nothing, my question is what do i do next, do i ignore it or phone them? Thanks in advance

    I wouldn't phone them.

If you've never had such a card and if the solicitors or anyone writes again to ask you to pay the debt then I would send the prove it letter, which disputes that you have any such debt, rather than asks for a copy of the agreement.

    See this link -

Apparently Opus purchased Citi cards so it could be you had a Citi card sometime in the past. Looks like Opus have been flogging those accounts recently.

No, don't phone them. If they can't supply you with any documents to prove you owe them money then you are not obliged to communicate with them till they supply them. I could also write to you saying you owe me money and supply you with bank details to make a payment. Would you pay me without making enquiries?

Morgan solicitors are the in house solicitors for cabot, who have obviously bought this debt.
The likelyhood of them producing a valid enforceable cca is very slim.
I have succefully disputed such a claim by them in the past and they probably will get back to you but it could take ages. I would wait until you hear from them and then post on here again if you need further advice.

Thank's everyone for the swift replies, is there a time limit that they need to adhere to regarding the cca? Many thank's again.

once it goes by 2 weeks or so, they are in default untithey produce something lawful.. if you are going to look at UE on this you need to do it right, don't use old letters
