Hi
I just wanted to say a big thanks for all your replies.
To answer some of them:-
* I will try the debt free board - we haven't actually had debts since when we were first married, but we need to act now before we have them again
* We already get WFTC. Massive sum of £8 per week!!
* I have budgeted but all our building work/repairs on house throw this out. We are going to hold off doing any work so we can see whether the budget actually works!
* I will definately question the insurance if they try to put the premiums up (I had just accepted what they said!)
* I already sell on ebay - we have stacks of stuff from the house move still plus the girls clothes.
* Regarding reclaiming bank charges - we have only gone overdrawn into the authorised overdraft - does that count?
* Witnesses to accident - I am putting a notice up at the nursery tomorrow as I had just dropped my daughters off there when the woman hit me.
The other ideas about ways to increase income I will hold onto for when the girls start school. I just haven't got enough time at the moment to keep on top of my current 'workload' at the moment, which I think is why I have reacted so tearfully to this car smash - it feels like one more thing for me to have to try and sort out.
I feel loads better having let off steam on here. It's nice to know people care about a 'stranger'. The woman and her husband (passenger in the car) were all concerned about me after the accident, telling me not to worry, that it was her fault. Then they tell the insurance company something different. It has made me question human nature a bit. This board goes towards rectifying that, so many thanks.

One thing that I did to earn extra cash when my son was young was start doing Mystery Shopping.
When the twins are at nursery you could earn some extra money by doing this. Search it on this forum, there is plenty of information. Basically you get paid to assess the customer service in stores/banks/pubs etc etc. On some jobs you can even take the kids with you (if you feel they would not be too much of a distraction).
Best of luck.:hello:0 -
Another twins mum here (15yo), plus two singletons. Been a lone parent for six years and it is hard. You are doing a terrific job with the girls, so keep it up.
When my girls were younger I used to do an Avon round, not a huge money maker, but gets you out and keeps you in toiletries, also great for getting hold of samples for the girls to use as dress-up. Other little earners could include phone book/yellow pages deliveries (usually advertised in the papers).
The other thing I did was get a part-time position in a diy store, only Friday evening (3hrs) and a Saturday (8 hrs). The reason I mention it, is staff discount, could be as much as 20%. Very useful if you have long-term diy plans.
I'm sorry about the woman/car incident, it does dent your belief in human integrity, but luckily not everyone is like that, and here are some of the best.
keep your chin up

Hi, I don't have any other ideas but you're in the right place for them, great bunch of people on here. Just take care of yourself as I know from personal experience that an incident like the car crash can really tip you over the edge

Hi
I have had a really good day today. I have sorted out our monthly budget and in particular our food budget (where we waste most!). I cooked a nice soup for tea (2 portions in freezer), cooked a ham for the weekend and made a big batch of cheese scones. 2 loads of washing done and stacks of ironing.
I am starting the weekend in a positive light and am determined we won't give in to the lure of the Indian takeaway. Pulses will be on soak in a mo for a homemade curry tomorrow night.
Thank you for all your suggestions and kind words. It has made me feel loads better.

If you can get out in the evenings, baby-sitting is a nice little earner. £4-£5 an hour. You could spread the word around nursery that you can baby-sit.0

don't feel too bad about the woman who hit you "changing her mind" about it being her fault, although i'm no expert i expect that her insurance company have told her not to admit liability, they wouldn't want to pay out if they can avoid it at all, what i'm trying to say (and not very well) is don't let it tar your impression of human nature
SC xxslowly working towards being MF one small over payment at a time :T0 -
Hi, Maybe there is a Lets scheme in your area, where people exchange skills for no money. An allotment is good for growing cheap organic food.
There are freecycle groups all over the country and they often have ads for building materials and household items to be given away free. Also gumtree is good for freebies and clearances0
