So out of curiosity i have had a look at my free Experian report. now there is one late payment on a loan repayment from 2006. Everything else other than this single payment is green/satisfied. yet my overall status is caution. is it just this one payment dragging that down? all other stuff like being on the electrol roll etc is fine. and will this payment 'drop off' my report? Will potential lenders and mortgage lenders pay any attention to a single late payment from six years ago? Also i was about to get a report from experian but because i have had a previous free period with them they want to charge the £15 monthly fee, which just for passing interest is a bit steep, is there like a one off £2 quid version i can get from them. many thanks team!

One late payment marker from that long ago would have negligible effect on your credit rating, if any. This would drop off your report anyways after 6 years (for eg., if the late payment was in June 2006, this would drop off your report in June 2012).
