Pregnancy Hamper

My very best friend has just told me she is pregnant. I am really happy for her and would like to make a little hamper present for her to say congratulations. Any ideas on what to put in it? She is around 13 weeks at the moment but I don't have lots to spend.

xx

Pamper things that can be bought in supermarket/£1 shops:
    Facemask
    Candle
    Choccies
    Non-Alcoholic cocktail (I saw bottles in Sainsbury's for £1 - sorry I don't know the brand name)
Nail files / varnish (nails grow well in pregnancy??)

You could make some vouchers too -
    Free babysitting
Free dinner (before or after the baby comes!)
    Free nappy change
Voucher to redeem anytime before baby comes for girly shopping trip
    etc etc

Ginger biscuits gaviscon i found these really helped with the hartburn!
Maybe some foot spa things like creams and foot bathfoam cause her feet will swell especially near the later stages.

    What a lovely idea!

I think PoppyGirl's idea of non-alcoholic cocktail is a great idea!

    Flowers or bath/shower stuff too.

Food is always a tricky one depending on cravings but if she has any then you could tailor your gift around that (could be quite funny depending on what she's craving!) and if she doesn't have any then cupcakes are the way forward!

Whatever you get I'm sure she'll really appreciate - so many people buy lovely baby gifts but forget what poor mum goes through!

    • Moisturising body cream for bump stretches/itching.
    • Dried prunes/apricots for constipation!
    • Packet of nice tissues, for weepy moments.
    • A journal so she can journal her pregnancy to give to her baby when it's older.
    • Ginger root for morning sickness.
    • A small frame for a scan photo.
    • Arnica tablets (for birth/post birth healing) - can read on internet about it.
    • Raspberry tea (for last trimester/labour) - read on t'internet for benefits/safe usage too.
    • Eye/sleep mask (for hospital, getting some sleep)

Can all be bought fairly cheaply and things that she could use at different stages of her pregnancy if she wished.

A pocket sized tin of vaseline. Useful for mum and baby. 99p - £1.30

2 syringes from supermaket pharmacy. Most baby painkillers come with spoons, except for nurofen and that's expensive. Not all babies will take medicine from a spoon and it was a nightmare finding this out when all the shops are closed and baby is in hysterics due to teething pain/post jabs etc. About 80p each. 2 buys enough time to get to the shops when they open again, wash one/use one.

Vests or baby gros in 3-6 month size. Everyone buys smaller and some babies are big!! It will always grow into them. About £5

Muslin cloths. No such thing as too many of these. Useful for everything you could imagine. £3-5

Also the hamper itself - I always buy a plastic trug which costs about £3-4. It can then be used as baby's laundry basket as it can have the worst, most disgustingly soiled vest etc thrown in and it can be washed out with no problems or lasting staining :) Just go for a neutral gender colour. + if they don't want it for a laundry basket they can use it for the garden, and baskets are more expensive. Look in Asda or wilkinsons, possibly Tescos.

Dry shampoo. For when you are stuck in a hospital bed for 3 days or when you have just not had the chance and forgotten. About £1.50?

If you have a Boots advantage card you could use your points or Tesco clubcard vouchers. Tescos have their double the value on clothing which could be used for 2 packs of vests/babygros?

Hope all that is useful :)
