Allergy to Dermologica??

Last week I bought my teenage daughter, their clean start products, cleanser toner and moisturiser to help with her very oily skin. Had heard so many good things about this brand that I thought it had to be worth a try. She tried it on Friday and come Sat morning her face was covered in an angry itchy red rash! I cant think of anything else that could have caused it but the dermologica. I was just wondering if anyone else had ever had this type of reaction before. I sent an email to Jersey beauty but dont think theres alot they can do?
thanks in advance

Perfectly possible. All skincare products ( even so called hypoallergenic ones) are full of chemicals, any of which can trigger a reaction. Normal advice is to try one new product at a time to check for a reaction.
It may be just one of the products. You could try a small patch test once her skin calms down again to see if you can isolate the offending product. With any luck she may be able to use up part of the range.
I had some Demalogica samples from a salon once - didn't agree with my skin either.0 -
It is possible, I'm sensitive to all the products barr the vitamin mask.
Sounds silly but it is possible that the previous products she was using may have altered the balance of the acid mantle. Any new products would burn slightly, cause a rash etc. it may be worth perservering and see if it improves. Dermalogica is all ph balanced so it wont strip the acid mantle any further and should start to balance it all out.
If not, Eve Taylor products are fab. Or even the oil cleansing method would help.0 -

I've not had this type of reaction to Dermalogica products but I have had what would be a reduced version when using Kiehl's facial skincare range and other reactions to different brands though it would appear I have reactions to specific ingredients rather then just brands which is a whole other story! What I can say is that my body skin does not react in the same way so if you are doing a patch test, it may well not react on the skin on your body.
I don't think there would be anything the Jersey Beauty Company can do other then offer you a refund or similar but if you were looking for ways to treat the reaction aside from washing/rinsing, once you have it checked out by a Doctor or dermatologist (I would suggest seeing someone rather then getting advice over the net). You could try aloe vera, calamine lotion or -if your daughter is not allergic, milk and oats (wrap in a soft muslin cloth or in a flannel) They can all help to calm skin which has been upset though are not a cure, they can just help with the symptoms. If you speak to your Doctor they may suggest and prescribe some antihystamines.0 -
I'ev used dermalogica in the past, and didn't like the range of ingredients. I would recommend considering a range with more natural/organic ingredients - Nude skincare is great, as it Juice beauty, both of which you can read more about on this website http://www.naturisimo.com/ go tot he all brands drop down tab and search0
