How old are you? There's plenty of Saturday jobs in Bradford, but most of them poorly paid until your 18. I can point you in the direction of a decent part time job but not SaturdayNothing's free.....but we'll see what we can do!0

Well how about contacting Bradford City or Bradford Bulls to see if they need anyone to work as a steward/programme seller? I don't know what the minimum age would be..
Is he any good with children? How about putting a notice up in your local papershop window advertising his services as a babysitter?
How much do paper-rounds pay these days?
How about YOU signing up as a bettaware/Avon/Kleeneze Rep (because of his age), and letting him do all the hard work and he can keep the commission..I think you get 20% commission or it might be 25%. If you could go around with him for the first couple of rounds (for free of course Hah hah) until you both get to know your customers and build up a rapport, and then he can take over completely
What about fruit & veg market..
What about calling into some local shops? Bakers shops?
That's all I can think of for the time being....I'll post if I can think of any more ideas. Let me know if he gets somethingApril 2006 - £9790.26dr. DFD - March 20110 -
agree with general advice offered by monkeylugs: keep your eyes peeled for anything, and if he has any particular interests then it's sometimes worth 'cold calling' shops to see what their policy is.
If you have a cinema or theatre nearby it may be worth contacting them. My eldest works at local cinema and I reckon it's easy money! Certainly compared to supermarket or catering! (It's not in Bradford though!) He started at 16. Used to deliver 'paid for' local daily paper, employed direct by the paper not a newsagent, that was after school, so if you have a daily evening paper in Bradford that could be worth exploring.
Middle son does the free papers on Thursday (stuffing papers) and Friday (delivering), and Sundays for the newsagent. Have to get up early for that one, but he can cope.
I know someone who does a paper round before school but that wouldn't work for mine: they have to catch bus too early!
Worth contacting local council (or look on website) to check no. of hours and type of work he can do at his age. It is quite restrictive at 13, for example.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
ta for all your advise - most i have already followed up on - yet to no avail.....as for the bradford city one - he did his work experience there as a coach as it was always his intention to be a goalie or a coach (from the age of 4) - he has played for various teams - park avenue being one - but, he has about turned and gone off of footie, even though he was offered a coaching job.....
he has an interview to go fill an application form in for a job today - so, fingers crossed.......0 -

Reminds me of a conversation with one of my son's friends: he'd seen that the local stationery shop wanted Saturday staff and he was wondering whether to apply because it would be easy to get to. I said that was a very good reason for applying. He was worried it might be a bit boring. I said that at his age (17/18) almost any job would be boring, so going for one close to home and in the dry (ie not a paper round) would be A Good Idea. And working in a stationery shop was likely to be a lot less boring than a supermarket!magoogy wrote:ta for all your advise - most i have already followed up on - yet to no avail.....as for the bradford city one - he did his work experience there as a coach as it was always his intention to be a goalie or a coach (from the age of 4) - he has played for various teams - park avenue being one - but, he has about turned and gone off of footie, even though he was offered a coaching job.....
that's one better than my son's friend: I don't think he ever did apply for a job ...magoogy wrote:he has an interview to go fill an application form in for a job today - so, fingers crossed.......Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
When I was younger I worked at Comet in the warehouse part on a weekend ferrying goods to peoples cars etc.
No pushing to sell waranties, was funny to watch the salesman try though.
I'd take a trip down to Forster Square Retail park and ask around, comet, currys, pc world.
A few to try. Being a technological type person I liked it in there.
